PHYTOCHEMICAL, USE IN ETHNOMEDICINE, AND THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES OF MARCHANTIA GENUS

Background: Liverworts are a group of plants from the Marchantia genus containing various biologically active compounds and comprised 65 species worldwide. This plant belongs to Marchantiaceae family, which was used empirically in China, North America, Ancient Greece, Indonesia treat open wounds, burns, hepatotoxicity, infection prevention. Now, liverworts have great potential as medicinal nutraceutical products because their phytochemical content diversity pharmacological activities. Purpose: review focuses on secondary metabolites obtained thalloid whole parts (herbs) compilation activities, still poorly documented. Review: article related information through extensive international journals (online) scientific databases offline (books) all searches included: (secondary metabolites) activities were collected compared results literature studies aspects. Some Marchantin A, B, D dan E; Paleatin B; Perrottetin F, Plagiochin E, Various regarding therapeutic properties been produced world such as: antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, cytotoxic activity, anti-inflammatory, cardiotonic, hepatoprotective, muscle relaxant, antiosteoporosis, skin care. Conclusion: Therefore, for development medicinal, supplementary is very large broad future.
